
Traxxas Nitro 4-tec Review
The Traxxas Nitro 4-tec 3.3 is a very sleek, radio controlled car, which gives a mean look as compared to the other models of Traxxas. This ready to run, sports car model is capable of reaching the incredible speed of about 75 mph, making it the fastest RC model car up till now. This vehicle is only about 17 inches or 432 mm long. This Nitro fueled car with the new 3.3 engine, under the curve, gives a fifty percent boost in hp (horse power), and a sixty percent boost when the car’s limit is pushed at top speed.
Although the torque increases incredibly, yet the linear power output leads to smooth and better performance throughout the RPM range. Apart from the latest motor technology offered by Traxxas, this vehicle also has a blue tuned pipe (anodized), larger pulleys, widened back belt, and powder coated (white) springs. All these features enhance the performance levels of the Traxxas Nitro 4-tec, making it even more spectacular. Design Features:
The most important thing with 75 mph Nitro 4-tec is the control/stability one desires at such a high speed. Following are the features which ensure stable handling of the vehicle:
- Bell crank Steering: Fitted with ball bearing, this system tightens the reaction for precision handling.
- Rear driver belt: This is an extra large belt in order to bear the power output.
- Oversize pulleys: To give the 75 mph speed to the Nitro 4-tec 3.3
- Fuel tank: It is mounted at the center in order to generate best balance, and the low fitting makes a low centre of gravity, so even when the fuel level goes down, it does not affect the handling.
- For the full adjustment of tow-in and camber, there are steel turn buckles and strong captured rod ends.
- The differential shafts have been supported by housings, and not from output shafts. So despite of the belt tension, the internal parts of the differential are prevented from failing.
- The ball bearings are rubber sealed and hence cause low friction, which provides, durable, and smooth performance, reducing the requirement of frequent maintenance.
How the high speed is achieved?
For those of you who are still wondering about the high speed, this is because a TRX3.3 nitro engine is installed in the racing car. These are actually mini internal combustion engines which run on a special nitro fuel which contains nitro methane, generating exceptional power. Hence for this powerful engine tuning has been made simple by Traxxas EZ start system and a 2 needle slide carburetor.
EZ-Start:
The Nitro 4-tec 3.3 is equipped with EZ- Start system which offers the convenient one handed operation, push button electric start. With this system, you can easily and safely start your engine. However, it requires 8 AA batteries for radio, twenty percent Nitro Fuel, and a 7.2 Volt battery as a power requirement for the EZ system. The Traxxas start technology is very smart, monitoring the important functions, automatically sensing and diagnosing the probable problems to ensure hassle free starting.
Be warned!
The Nitro 4-tec 3.3 has not been designed for everyone. Because of the rapid acceleration and extremely high speed, it is suitable only for the experienced drivers. By that I mean those divers who have experience/expertise with Nitro powered car model previously. Otherwise, while struggling to control it, you could wreck it instantly. It is important to drive in a very large space which is free of obstructions like no traffic of people or cars.
Traxxas gives the model a rating of 5, which is the highest even among the expert drivers.
